Sleuth or Dare: Partners in Crime – Book Review
October 11th, 2012 by Karen
As soon as I heard the premise of the Sleuth or Dare series by Kim Harrington, I just had to read it — and I was not disappointed! (And I’m not just saying that because I work at the company that publishes the books; I don’t work on them at all myself anyway.)
Best friends Darcy and Norah set up a fake detective agency for a class project, but before long, they get an anonymous message asking them to solve a real mystery! Even though they’re just middle school students and not true private eyes, Norah and Darcy take the case — and soon they’re hot on the trail of a missing person.
Now, I love a good mystery, but as you may know, I am a HUGE scaredy cat. That means I stay away from any mystery that involves brutal murder, constant physical danger to the good guys, supernatural elements, pretty much any bloodshed at any level, etc. I know I miss out on a lot of good books this way, but I just don’t like feeling terrified and not being able to sleep at night. Luckily, Partners in Crime is an enjoyable mystery without any of those elements. There’s definitely some danger and a twist ending, but nothing that’s going to give you nightmares.
Plus, Darcy and Norah feel like real kids you’d know from school — they’re funny, relatable, and enjoyable to read about. Can’t wait to get my hands on Book 2: Sleepover Stakeout and Book 3: Framed & Dangerous!

Karen absolutely devoured Encyclopedia Brown and Two Minute Mysteries when she was a kid. But most of the time, she needed to check the back of the book for the solution. 🙁

I read this for a book report, it was one of the best mysteries i’ve read. When I saw the cover I knew it was the perfect fast read. I read it even after my friend said it looked stupid but don’t judge a book by its cover
Yeah, it really is a good book. I love reading a great mystery book and this one was fantastic. The actions in this book leave you in suspense and I’m begging for more! Get this book!
