File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents – Book Review

July 15th, 2014 by

file-under-13-suspicious-incidentsIf you’re already a Lemony Snicket fan, then you might as well stop reading now. Just turn off the computer and go get this book (File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents by Lemony Snicket).

For the rest of you who aren’t so sure, consider whether you enjoy Encyclopedia Brown or Two-Minute Mysteries by Donald Sobol. If the answer is yes, then you should also go out and get this book immediately.

Because that’s basically what this book is: 13 mini-mysteries with the solutions in the back. I will say that the answers aren’t quite as clear as in most of the Encyclopedia Brown stories—but maybe that just makes sense when a shadowy organization like VFD is involved…

And to balance out that downside, you get the awesome upside of spending more time with the quirky residents of Stain’d-by-the-Sea. These little stories don’t seem to further the action of the main mystery started in Who Could That Be at This Hour, but when you’re dealing with Lemony Snicket, who knows!

Have you read this book or any others by Lemony Snicket? Tell me your thoughts in the comments! Or let me know if there’s a new series you plan to read this summer.

Karen is reading Septimus Heap for the first time this summer. Yes, she knows she’s years behind everyone else. But better late than never, right?
