Granny Torelli Make Soup is about 2 kids, Bailey and Rosie. Rosie narrates the story which is mostly about Bailey who is blind, and then the two have a a big fight in which Bailey tells Rosie to ”get over herself.” With the help of soup, stories and love, Granny Torelli works her magic to make this relationship between blind Bailey and Rosie together again.
Sharon Creech is a great writer. We know that from Walk Two Moons and Replay. So it was not surprised that she pulled off another classic. Granny Torelli is funny, and sweet, and you could just curl up by the fire with a bowl of soup and tea and read it. Bailey is just like a normal boy who is blind. He can act bratty sometimes, but he’s still a kid. Rosie is the same way. It’s inspiring, sweet, and well, it’s one of the best books I’ve read in a while. I love it, and you will too.
