Kidlit Christmas Karaoke
December 5th, 2014 by Karen
I looooooove the winter holiday season. I love the decorations, the snow, the peppermint and the gingerbread treats (and let’s be honest, all the other kinds of treats too). And I also love the songs.
Since the night of Thanksgiving, I’ve been singing along to “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” And I’ve even come to enjoy “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” which I did not used to like — but this year I’ve been dancing along. Dancing!
And then there are two non-traditional carols that, well, I kind of wish I could forget… The tunes are absolutely great. And the lyrics — inspired by some kidlit faves — are pretty awesome (if I do say so myself). But the problem is that I’m the singer — and let’s just say that no one would mistake me for an angel on high, sweetly singing o’er the plains.
But since we shared these music videos with you in Christmases past, I figured it would be a shame to hide them away this season. So go ahead and judge for yourselves…

Karen’s favorite holiday song is “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.” Probably not coincidentally, Karen danced a bit when putting up her Christmas decorations this year…
