Let’s take a trip back to 2009…

[Get ready! I see wavy time travel spirals ahead!]
[Tunnel through a wormhole…]
[And we’ve arrived back in 2009!]
That summer, Taylor Swift’s “You Belong to Me” and “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas topped the music charts. The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan finally hit bookshelves. Movies like Bandslam, Up, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince were in movie theaters:
And… on August 9, 2009, Kidsmomo launched!
In five years, we’ve posted 209 book recommendations, 750+ kid-submitted reviews, and lots more! It was tough to choose, but let’s travel slowly back to 2014 with my five favorite Kidsmomo moments:
NANCY’S TOP 5 KIDSMOMO MOMENTS:
5. Elijah of Buxton Book Trailer
I can never decide which is more hilarious: Karen’s narration, or my illustrations of vomit filling a room. You decide:
Did you know we once hosted a podcast? It’s super fun to listen to, was super duper fun to record, and super duper duper fun when we would mess up.
Sock puppets. Paper chickens. French fries. Unintentionally dismembered chicken legs. This video’s got it all!
2. The Stuffing in the Bathtub
This is one of my favorites because it was a collaboration with an aspiring 12-year-old writer (wow, I guess she’d be 17 now!). Plus, Elephant and Piggie make a cameo appearance!
1. An animated review of Mr. and Mrs. Bunny — Detectives Extraordinaire!
As you might have noticed, I love expressing my thoughts through animated images. Book and movie reviews are no exception!
And those are my Top 5 Kidsmomo moments (so far) — here’s to another five years!
