The breadwinner is a book about a young girl and how her family struggled under the rule of the Taliban. The major themes of this book are survival, courage and being the breadwinner (earning money for the family).
The author ,I really liked how she uses imagery ( a picture in your head) in her writing
The style of her writing is wonderful, the types of words she uses teaches me stuff like refugee camps which taught me that refugee camps are for internally displaced persons.
I found the book really interesting, descriptive and had a lot of life long skills,I liked the strength and courage of the main character Parvana, She tried new things all the time. My favourite part was when the father came back ,my least favourite part of the book was when the mom was depresed.I think the story flowed really smoothly together. I would recommend this book to age 8- 12 years old.
