The Breadwinner is a book about a little girl and her family who live in Afghanistan. Parvana, the protagonist struggled under the oppression of the Taliban rule. The major theme within this book is war.War affects Parvana by all the fighting. The antagonists are the Taliban. The genre of this book is adventure and drama. The important relationships in this story are Parvana and Shauzia, mother and Parvana, and father and Parvana.
The author is Deborah Ellis. The book took place in Afghanistan in a city called Kabul. It happened during the times of when the Taliban were in control. The author did a good job of making me feel like I was there by using discriptive words in the story.I don’t think the characters are believable because when Homa jumped on to a truck was unbelievable because you can’t just jump on a truck, you need to jump really high.I don’t know anyone who is like any of the characters.I like the way the author uses words because it has really good verbs and adjectives.
