The Tapper Twins Go to War (With Each Other): Book Review

May 3rd, 2015 by

the-tapper-twins-go-to-warI’m an only child, and I always wanted a twin sister. But I’m pretty sure Claudia and Reese (the Tapper twins) would tell me that I’m crazy for having that wish because they know firsthand how traumatic it can be to have a twin — especially when that twin becomes your sworn enemy.

In The Tapper Twins Go to War (With Each Other) by Geoff Rodkey, Claudia presents a case file on the giant battle that takes place between the twins. They completely disagree about what started the war (each blames the other, naturally), but neither can deny that things get completely out of hand as their attacks and counterattacks get more and more extreme.

Not convinced? Well, the war between Reese and Claudia involves:

  • A stinky dead fish
  • Public humiliation — all over the internet
  • A ridiculous haircut
  • Video game combat
  • Gorgonzola cheese

I really enjoyed this book from the very first page to the final word. It’s funny, and the characters and situations seem (mainly) realistic. Plus, the case file format made it a breezy, easy read — including text message transcripts, chat logs, testimonials, photos, and illustrations.

This is a the first book in a series, and I look forward to reading about Reese and Claudia’s adventures in the next book, The Tapper Twins Tear Up New York. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come out until September, so I have to wait a few months. In the meantime, I’ll just have to focus on recommending this first book about the Tapper family. So go read it! Go! Now! Read it!

Since Karen obviously couldn’t magically create a twin sister for herself in real life when she was a kid, she wrote (or at least started writing) a series of books with twin sisters as characters. The Tapper Twins Go to War (With Each Other) is a much better book.
