Great book. Loved the first, loved the second, can’t wait to read the third. Loved Lasky’s Guardians of Ga’Hoole. All in all, any book she writes I will probably read it, and love it.

I am reading a book called Lone Wolf, by Kathryn Lasky. The book is sofar about A mama bear, who finds a baby pup(baby wolf) and is trying to raise it all alone. I think it would be difficult to raise someone or and animal that is not your type. Well, the mama bear, witch is called Thunderheart, calls the pup, Folan because, Fao ment both river( That’s were she found him) and wolf. Lan meant gift. So she was saying, She found him at the river, he’s a wolf, and he’s a gift. So, she has to teach him to be agressive and catch real meat instead of drinking her milk. Later in the book, but before part 2, he’s learning really well. The bear is not used to raising a pup when it is not as big as a cub.( Baby bear) So what is she going to do with that small little pup? If you just read more and more of Lone Wolf, you might as well read the whole series. It is both, sad and happy, but you are going to have to read it.

Lone Wolf is a very exciting book and it is written by Kathryn Lasky. The author really gets into the book and some parts are sad, but I would recommend this book to lots of people. The book Lone Wolf is about a wolf cub that was born with a splayed paw and a spiral pattern on his foot. The poor little wolf was taken away from his mother to die because of this blemish. The Obea took him and tossed him on a piece of ice so when it melted he would fall in the river and drown. When the piece of ice broke, poor Faolan was tossed down the river but luckily a bear named Thunderheart rescued him. He lives with her for awhile but then it’s time for Thunderheart to hibernate. Faolan goes to hunt and Thunderheart wakes up. She decides to look for him. What will happen? Later on Faolan felt an earthquake, and Thunderheart has still not returned… Read this book to find out just what happens to Faolan and Thunderheart!

I read Lone Wolf and it’s all about a wolf pup who has a splayed paw and he is left to die, but a grizzly comes and saves his life. She raises him as her own, but when the winter comes, she has to hibernate. They get separated and the pup is all on his own. It’s very dangerous and he has no one to protect him. He is determined to find out his story and where he came from. He goes on a great journey to find his destiny. No one knows where the pup is, not even himself. Will he make it, or will he die? Will the animals that he cherishes be ok? Read the book to find out what happens to this crippled pup!

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole Movie Review

October 10th, 2010 by

The new movie Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole really SOARED opening weekend, coming in at #2 at the box office. But did the story — adapted from Kathryn Lasky’s Guardians of Ga’Hoole book series — really FLY on the big screen? Was it a HOOT? Or is it FOR THE BIRDS? And just how many owl puns can we fit into this paragraph?

Lucky for you, that paragraph is over — so we’re done with the bad jokes and now you can watch our video review of Legend of the Guardians. (Be sure to stay tuned until the end for a rousing game of Owl or Cheese!)

(PS – If you want to listen to our review ON THE FLY, you can download the audio. Sorry, couldn’t resist one more bird pun…)

Have you seen the movie? Leave a comment with YOUR review! How do you think it compared to the books?

Breaking Book News: Guardians of Ga’Hoole Movie Trailer

March 8th, 2010 by

On Friday, Nancy and I were among the crowds lined up to see the new Alice in Wonderland movie on opening night. How was it? Well, you’ll have to wait a little longer for our KidsmomoMO movie review, but I’ll give you a hint: one of the most exciting things on screen came before the film even started… the premiere of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole movie trailer!

Entitled Legend of the Guardians, the film is due out in September and will cover the first three books in Kathryn Lasky’s popular book series*. Of course, like every other movie these days, it will be in 3D. And while I’m not always the biggest fan of 3D, in this case I think it’s going to make a HUGE difference. Because I’m sorry to say that this online trailer isn’t nearly as breathtaking as what I saw in the theater. But check it out anyway, and leave a comment with your thoughts! What do you think — did they get it right?

* If you’re not familiar with the books, check out these 5-star reviews from Ayra (age 10) and Milo (age 9).

The Siege (Guardians of Ga’hoole, Book 4) by Kathryn Lasky

Guardians of Ga'hoole #4 The SiegeReviewed by: Milo, Age 9 from Washington

This book is a great. It is very exciting and interesting. The author makes it so that you are almost traveling to that time and place. I love this book because it is about Soren when he goes back to St. Aggie’s Academy and he barely escapes from Kludd, his evil brother, with the pure ones. A great book! I can’t tell you any more because it would ruin the story.
