Between How to Train Your Dragon and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Nancy and Karen have spent a lot of time sitting silently in dark movie theaters recently. So we decided it was time for a return to the fast-paced, brightly-lit world of KidsmomoMo Pictionary!

If you watched Round 1 or Round 2 of our competition, then you know that Nancy’s drawing skills pretty much stomp all over Karen’s artistic attempts, while Karen excels more where the guessing’s concerned. But what will happen in Round 3? You’ve got to watch to find out!

Okay, let’s face it, you won’t be surprised… But it’s still entertaining! So tune in and play along! All the answers are titles from our booklists for past themes. How many titles can YOU guess?

Well, not really. If you watched our first game, then you know it’s not exactly an even match: one of us is a talented artist, and the other has the illustration skills of a potato — and not like a lively Mr. Potato Head potato either, more like a cold, moldy lump of potato.

But tune in anyway — and play along! All the answers are titles from our booklists for past themes. How many titles can YOU guess?

It’s Game Night in the Kidsmomo household — which means it’s time for a rousing game of KidsmomoMO Pictionary!

We took turns randomly drawing titles from our booklists for past themes, and then drawing as many visual clues as possible within a one-minute time limit. Who got the most correct answers? Whose doodles saved the day? And how many titles can YOU guess? Well, one thing’s for certain — after you watch this video, it will be very obvious which one of us does the Mystery Book Theater illustrations!

So, what are you waiting for? Watch the video and play along:

The other day, a couple friends and I went on a food crawl — which means that we dedicated the afternoon to snacking at a bunch of different places. The idea is to eat only a little at each spot, but no matter what, we always end the day so stuffed that we’re barely able to stand upright. To put it in children’s book terms: you know August Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and how he falls into the river of chocolate because he’s such a glutton? Yeah, that was us.

One of our stops was a cafe where they sold tons of fried snacks through a gigantic window opening onto the street. We didn’t know what anything was called or what was in it, so in a mad haze of greedy anticipation, we just pointed to this, that, and the other thing, and oh, why not, one of those things too. In the frenzy of ordering, I didn’t notice this poster until it was too late:

WHA?! Frozen momo?!

Then I turned around and noticed this explanatory sign:

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh…

Turns out that momo is a type of South Asian dumpling! There are lots of different kinds of fillings, from goat to yak meat to cheese. But it made me wonder… if a dumpling made out of chicken is called chicken momo and a dumpling made out of pork is called pork momo, then what exactly is kidsmomo?

Yikes!

— Karen
