In this book the main character is Cathrine and she has a brother named David, normal right? Nope, David goes to O.T. every Tuesday and Thursday and now that it’s summer Cathrine goes too. Catherine’s neighbor sells her house to a family with a girl Cathrine’s age and Cathrine wants to make a good impression but with David, that’s hard. Not to mention that Cathrine is an artist and she loves to draw while waiting for David at the clinic. She draws Jason a boy who speaks with word cards and is in a wheelchair. Jason however doesn’t like that but over time they patch things up. Read this amazing heartwarming Newbery honor wining realistic fiction book to find out more.

In the book rules by Cythia Lord there are many happy and sad parts. This book is very heartfelt and very interesting to read. The book rules is named rules because Cathrine tries to teach David rules on what not to do and what to do. I love this book because it’s about an autistic boy. This boys name is David. David’s older sister Cathrine just wants to have a normal life, which she thinks is nearly imposible with a brother with autism, and a family that revolves around him. Cathrine begins to notice what is happening. This means in her mind her life has started to revolve around him too. I can connect to this because my mom was a teacher who taught kids with autism, and I used to go with her, so I have been around people with autism alot. I recomend to anyone who likes books with caring people, and also to people that like books that are by Cynthia Lord.
