Sigh. Another boring historical fiction book. Why would I want to read this? This may be your first impression of Laura E. Willams’ Behind a Bedroom Wall. But this story is far beyond regular historical fiction. It’s about a young girl growing up in Germany during the holocaust named Korinna. Korinna partisapates in a young nazi group along with Rita and Eva, her friends. She loves being apart of the Jungmadel, helping the poor and babysitting for people, while learning about Hitler and believing that he was going to make Germany a bigger and Stronger nation. But one day, she discovers that her parents are hiding Jews behind her own bedroom wall. At the beginning, Korinna looks down upon them, hating them because she learned that they were the enemy. But she then begins to feel sorry for the Jewish family. But tension is heating up between the meetings and Korinna, and even heating up between her and her best friends. Soon, suspisions are starting to kick into full swing, Korinna is forced to make decisions. This is no ordiary, historical fiction that makes you yawn. It is one where you’ll want to skip to the end to find out what happens!
