Centaur in The Sea of Monsters
August 12th, 2010 by Nancy
Hello. My name is Nancy, and I have a confession to make.
I’m a font nerd. A lettering geek. A typophile. (This last term could be interpreted as someone who enjoys typos, which is just plain wrong.)
Basically, I’ll pay special attention to what kind of font was used when I look at posters, movie credits, books, and more.
So imagine by utter delight when I was flipping through Percy Jackson and the Olympians #2: The Sea of Monsters and happened to see:

“This book is set in 13-point Centaur MT.”
Teeheeeheeee! Get it? The font is Centaur, just like Chiron! I thought it was pretty ingenious and immediately told Karen. Her response was a facial expression like this:
Meaning, she was not impressed.

Nancy gets that look from Karen a lot.

I am a font nerd too. My favorite fonts are Garamond, Goudy Old Style, High Tower Text and Palatino Linotype.
I don’t like Times New Roman. It takes me ten minutes to decide what font a paper for school should be when I’m writing it before I settle on…Times New Roman.
I’m speaking a foreign language. I apologize.
I never noticed the “centaur and Chiron” thing. I don’t like Centaur MT because it looks weird in Italics.
I am officially an alien.
I’m like an uber-alien then, since I DID noticed the Centaur and Chrion thing! ๐
I checked out da font.
it is sick! (really good)
