How to “blanch” almonds: Pour boiled water over the almonds, and let it sit for an a minute. Rinse with ice cold water a few times. Then grab a chair, turn on the TV*, and spend a couple hours peeling the skins off the almonds.

*TV watching not required, but what else was I going to do? Be left alone with my thoughts?
