Mary is a spoiled brat. Mary doesn’t have any friends. Mary is an orphan. And I would love to be Mary. Because when her mother and father die, she’s sent to live at her uncle’s “house”, Misslethwaite Manor, on the moor in the middle of nowhere. (Or if you’re gullible, on the moon.) With no servant to worship her and wait upon her, she explores the grounds of the manor hoping to find the mysterious, secret garden that has been locked up for ten years. Mary changes from selfish to joyful, makes friends, finds a place where she belongs, and learns more than one secret.
