I was practicing my handstand in my living room and came crashing to the ground. I rubbed my shoulder, wincing. Gymnasts in the Olympics made it look a lot easier than it really was! Sighing, I tried again. I just had to get this down or I would flunk gym.
My teenage brother walked into the room. “What on earth are you doing?”
“I’m trying to do a handstand,” I muttered.
“That’s not how you do it,” he said in a superior tone. “Let me show you.”
He stood in the center of the room and kicked his legs up into the air. They were a lot longer than mine, and then CRASH! His foot hit a lamp and the light went out, the bulb shattering. “WHOA!” He fell down on his back hard and the room shook.
“What did you do now?” I shrieked, inspecting the damage.
“It’s fine,” he assured me, getting up and fiddling around with the lamp. “I think.” But it didn’t flicker on. “Oops,” he said. “I think I broke it…”
We stared in silence at the destructed, demolished lamp.
Finally, I spoke. “YOU can tell Mom about this.”
