Touch Blue: Book Review

July 27th, 2011 by

touch-blue-cynthia-lord-book-reviewFrom the very first page of Touch Blue by Cynthia Lord, I felt like I was with the characters on their Maine island home — and it was the perfect place to find myself because at that moment, I really wanted to escape the gross New York City summer heat!

Tess, the narrator of the book, loves her island too. But the same can’t be said for Aaron, her new foster brother. He’s come from the mainland along with a bunch of other foster kids because the island residents need more students or their school will be shut down in the fall.

Tess’ mom is the teacher, so Tess really wants this to work. But it’s hard when Aaron seems so unfriendly and unhappy

To find out what happens — and take your own tour of the island — check out Touch Blue! And if you’ve already read it, leave a comment letting me know your thoughts on the book!

I just finished this book the other day. Loved learning about life on a small island town, and I thought the story pretty good as well. Looking forward to reading Rules by Cynthia Lord.

Rules is great! It’s a very different story from Touch Blue, but one similarity is that Cynthia Lord is good at introducing characters you’ll really care about. Highly recommended!
