I was undecided on what book to start reading so I asked for suggestions and 9 out of 10 people said “Hunger Games!!! I couldn’t put the book down.” I got excited to start reading it so I did as soon as I could. When I started reading, it was just okay. I kept reading and it got a little better but it never REALLY got to a point where I absolutely wanted to read more. I’ll admit that the main idea of the story was pretty interesting it just wasn’t a good book for me.

The author did a great job describing exactly how Katniss felt and what she was going through. One thing the author described well was how she had to fight through hunger and pain so that she could get back home to her family. She described Katniss as pretty independent, observant, inelegant, and hard working. Katniss has to have all of these qualities to be able to fight for her life in a game with people fighting until death from 12 different districts.

Overall, it was an interesting book. It had a great topic and descriptive writing but, once again, just not a great book for me. It was pretty easy to understand and new things were happening all the time so I would recommend this book to people who like suspenseful books. In the end I would have to give it four out of five stars because it was a pretty good book just not one of my absolute favorites and I think many other people will really enjoy it.
