This was one of the best books I have ever read! I loved this book because the main character lives in Norway, where I lived for a year. This story is about a girl named Rose who lives with her parents and seven siblings. One of them is very ill and they barely have enough food to survive. One day a white bear knocks on their door and says that if Rose will come with him, he will cure the sick sibling and make them wealthy. Rose goes with him, despite her parents pleas, and she travels to a palace that is carved in a mountain where she lives with him for a year. They become friends but one night her curiosity gets the better of her and she ends up doing the bear a terrible wrong. Now she must travel to the land that lies east of the sun and west of the moon to set things right. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy books and surprising love stories.
