The Breadwinner

I thought the Breadwinner was a realistic fiction because it showed me how life is like in Afghanistan. The antagonist were the Taliban and the protagonist was Parvana. A very strong relationship in the story is between Parvana and Shauzia because they can work together to overcome any situation.

The Breadwinner is a book about a girl named Parvana who lives in Afghanistan with her family. She overcomes many difficult times in her life such as, breaking rules to feed her family and keep them healthy. She has to do it because her brother was shot and her father is in arrested for being educated. So she had to work dressed as a boy. But one day she sees another tea boy playing around her.

The author made me really made me feel feel like I was there because her writing was very descriptive and vivid and by making the characters very real and by having a very strong plot. It also showed me how life was like for girls in Afghanistan that are my age. It demonstrated how lucky I am to have such an amazing family education, house, clothes and many more things.

I found the book to be very informative on how life is like in Afghanistan. I also love how the author tells me exactly what’s happening at that moment. I also loved her word choice and writing style.
