Summer + Books = Awesome!

July 14th, 2015 by

books-in-paradiseSummer is not just a time for lemonade, beaches, air conditioning, ice cream, hanging out with friends, swimming, and barbecues. It’s also the perfect time for BOOKS! In fact, you can combine all of these summer activities with books and it’ll be awesome:

Relax with a book while drinking a refreshing glass of lemonade. The Lemonade War series by Jacqueline Davies, perhaps?

Read at the beach. A beach in Florida, maybe, with Turtle in Paradise by Jennifer L. Holm.

If it’s an especially hot day, take a trip to magical Gavaldon (in the comfort of your own air-conditioned home) and visit best frenemies Agatha and Sophie in the School of Good and Evil series by Soman Chainani — the series conclusion, The Last Ever After, finally hits bookshelves on July 21st!

Decided to beat the heat with some ice cream? Cone in one hand, See You at Harry’s by Jo Knowles in the other!

Summer vacation is the best time to hang out with friends! And why not start a book club with your friends and read (or re-read) about the three best friends ever: Harry, Ron, and Hermione?

Taking a dip in the pool? Unleash your inner mermaid with a dive into the deep end, and then and dry off while seeing what’s new with Liz Kessler’s Emily Windsnap series!

And last but not least: It’s barbecue time! Chow down on a hot dog while traveling the cosmos in the hilarious Cosmoe’s Wiener Getaway, the first book in the Galactic Hot Dogs series written by Max Brallier and illustrated by Rachel Maguire.

icon_nancyNancy’s summer musings: If she tops her hot dog with ice cream, does that mean there could be a Galactic Hot Dogs/See You at Harry’s crossover? See Galatic Hot Dogs at Harry’s. No. That’d be… weird.
