Night by Elie WieselSubmitted by Kaylie, Age 12 from New York

Rating: ★★★★★

In Night, Elie, a Holocaust survivor, describes his experience in one of the darkest times in history. At the age of 15, Elie Wiesel was sent with his family to Auschwitz, a concentration camp ruled by the Nazis. There, he faces starvation, persecution and even death. The Nazis have taken everything from him– his family, his home, his belongings– what is left? Can Elie keep him and his father alive? Night is a very eye-opening story. You get to experience the Holocaust through Elie’s eyes and it gives you a whole new perspective. This book is very gruesome and gives many details. Some parts may be too graphic for some readers. I recommend this book for people who can take gore, because it truly makes you feel like you are experiencing the inhumanity that still haunts us today.
