New Dr. Seuss Stories

August 19th, 2011 by

So it’s probably been years since you picked up The Cat in the Hat or Green Eggs and Ham — after all, Dr. Seuss books are for little kids… right? But admit it. You know every word of those books by heart!

(highlight to see the words that you already know)

I do not like them in a box.
I do not like them with a fox.
I do not like them in a house.
I do not like them with a mouse.
I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere.
I do not like green eggs and ham.
I do not like them, Sam I am.

Well, guess what? Now’s the time to revisit our favorite rhyming author, because the new book The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories by Dr. Seuss will be released in September.

No, you’re not crazy. Dr. Seuss is deceased. So how can there be a new Seuss book?

Well, Dr. Seuss didn’t just write books — he also wrote and illustrated for magazines. Dr. Charles Cohen, a Seussian scholar and collector (and dentist) spent many years collecting these “lost” stories. The seven stories included in The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories are:

  • “The Bippolo Seed”
  • “The Bear, the Rabbit, and the Zinniga-Zanniga”
  • “Gustav the Goldfish”
  • “Tadd and Todd”
  • “Steak for Supper”
  • “The Strange Shirt Spot”
  • “The Great Henry McBride”

To find out more about more about how The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories came to be, check out this article in Publisher’s Weekly. But FIRST, keep reading to see goofy pictures of me and Karen…

I don’t think we can ever be too old for Dr. Seuss! When Karen and I stopped by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter last month, we also stopped by another famous book-related theme park: Seuss Landing!

Supposedly, there's not a single straight line in all of Seuss Landing!
