I first read The Lighting Thief and I loved it. I loved it so much my grandma(nana) got me the whole series. This series has adventure,a little romance(it’s ok for younger children), and is about how one family has to save the world and stil wait to relax.

Percy Jackson is a half-blood which means he’s half god and half human. Percy’s father is Posidon, god of water, he’s mother sara on the other hand is mortal but has a very good eye sight. She can see through the mist that separates the moster actual form from what they think. Sara can see the monsters from Percy’s point of view and wants him to be safe no matter what.percy is a only child but since his father is one of the big three he has to destroy Kronos before he destroys Olympus. Posidon, the god of water, Zeus, the god of the sky, and Hades, the god of the underworld made a pact to never have children after world war II because they didn’t want to seethe destruction it would have caused, and when Percy found out he was a child of the big three he was startled.Read the book to find out more.

Do you think you’re important enough to save the world? Well these demigods must answer this Prophecy. The prophecy of the demigods is,

Seven Half Bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall,
an oath to keep at the final breath,
foes bear arms at the doors of death.

This prophecy entitles “to storm or fire the world must fall”,
Jason, son of Jupiter, is recognized as storm and Leo, son of Hephaestus, is recognized as fire. These seven half bloods are on their journey to stop the Earth, Gaea, from awakening and re-unite the Greeks and the Romans before the gods tear each other apart over their sides. Can the two demigods Nico and Reyna and their satyr,Coach Hedge, return the Athena Parthenos to Half-blood Hill to show greeks and romans a alliance, while the crew of the Argo II prevent the wake and destruction of the Earth Mother. Can they do this?

If you liked the first part of The Heroes of Olympus you will love this one. It’s full of action, it’s funny and also serious. It could of been a little more fast paced. They spend a lot of time on a ship. The whole series is great and I fully recommend it.

The Blood of Olympus by Rick RiordanYesterday probably seemed like a normal day to most people. Just another Tuesday. But most people don’t know anything and anything because yesterday was actually a momentous day: the official release of The Blood of Olympus!

That’s right! The final book in Rick Riordan’s Heroes of Olympus series is finally here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will the crew of the Argo II defeat Gaea? Can the war between Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood be stopped? Will the gods recover from their split personality disorder? And after all they’ve been through, will Percy and Annabeth finally get to live happily ever after?

Also, did Karen or Nancy guess correctly in their Death Predictions for the book? (Karen guessed Nico; Nancy guessed Frank.)

AGAIN, WE DON’T KNOW!!! We haven’t read the book yet!

And since it just came out yesterday, we’re guessing you haven’t read it yet either. But we can help with that…

The Blood of Olympus Book Cover!

May 20th, 2014 by

Last week, the book cover art by John Rocco was revealed for the final book in the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan, The Blood of Olympus. So we’ll be continuing our Cover Analysis Series where I obsessively pick apart the cover art and try to guess what happens in the book:

The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Let’s revisit the description of The Blood of Olympus:

Though the Greek and Roman crew members of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen—all of them, and they’re stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood—the blood of Olympus—in order to wake. The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it might be able to stop a war between the two camps. The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea’s army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

Well, that’s a lot of information to digest — kind of like when Kronos digested his kids, right? Yeah? Yeah? A little bit of Greek mythology humor for you.

I think the three heroes shown on the cover are…

  • There’s definitely Frank Zhang (son of Ares), with his bow and arrow.
  • In the center it’s likely Jason Grace (son of Zeus), leaping in the air surrounded by lightning. He’s wearing an orange shirt, which could be borrowed from a Camp Half-Blood camper. It looks like he’s brewing up a pretty big storm…
  • On the horse, at first I thought it was Reyna (daughter of Bellona), but it’s actually Hazel Levesque (daughter of Pluto), on her immortal horse Arion. (Reyna rides the Pegasus Scipio.)
  • The three big dudes are Gaea’s giants — but which ones? From the down-below angle, we can see that one of them is NOT a cyclops (ruling out Arges, Brontes, Steropes) but the other two could be cyclopes.
  • This battle takes place where there’s a crane and columns with classical architecture — is there some construction going on in Athens?
  • The giants like to use weapons as hair accessories. Who do you think does that giant’s braids?

Check out the scorecard for who appears on which book covers — Nico’s “people” should start campaigning for him to be on covers!

The Staff of Serapis by Rick RiordanAlso, if you want to get a sneak peek at the first chapter of The Blood of Olympus and have a way to read digitally, you can get the chapter as a bonus with a new short story by Rick Riordan called The Staff of Serapis — Annabeth Chase and Sadie Kane (from the Kane Chronicles) meet!

So, what do you guys think — do your eagle eyes spot any other clues on the new cover?
